USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19)


CAPT. Randall W. Peck, USN

Captain Randall Peck is a native of Houston, Texas. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned in May 1991. He completed flight training at Naval Air Station Miramar California, and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in July 1993.

Upon completing E-2C flight training in January 1994, he reported to the “Wallbangers” of VAW-117, NAS Miramar, California, where he deployed twice for Operation SOUTHERN WATCH and once for counter-narcotics operations.

In 1997, he was assigned as an instructor naval flight officer with the “Greyhawks” of VAW-120, based at NAS Norfolk, and served as NFO Training and NATOPS Officer. In May 2000, he was reassigned to Cruiser-Destroyer Group Three, embarked on USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72) based in Everett, Washington, where he served as the Battle Group Air Defense Officer. There he deployed in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH, Rim of the Pacific annulld Northern Edge Exercises. In September 2002, he reported to VAW-116 Sun Kings, NAS Point Mugu and embarked aboard USS CONSTELLATION (CV-63), where he served as the Training and Maintenance Officer. While assigned to the “Sun Kings,” he deployed in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH/FOCUS and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

In January 2007 he completed a joint duty assignment with the Joint Advanced Warfighting Program – Analytical Program Office, Institute for Defense Analysis, in Alexandria, Virginia where he supported Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff and US Joint Forces Command projects. In July 2008, he joined VAW-112 as Executive Officer where he deployed to the 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74), and in September he assumed command the VAW-112 Golden Hawks until December 2010. After completing the Naval Nuclear Power Training pipeline, he reported to USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) as Executive Officer.

Captain Peck has accumulated over 2400 flight hours in Naval Aircraft. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Air Medal (Strike/Flight with bronze numeral one), the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards, one with combat V), and the Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards).
