CAPT. James T. Robinson USN
Commanding Officer

Captain Tate Robinson was born and raised in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. After graduating from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island in 1991, he attended the University of Memphis where he graduated with a Mathematics degree and received his commission in May 1996. In January 1999, he reported to the Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated at the top of his class at Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, New York. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Military Arts and Science (Military History) from the Army Command and General Staff College.

His assignments at sea include Propulsion One Division Officer in USS CLEVELAND (LPD-7), Repair Officer in USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65), Weapons Control Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS COWPENS (CG 63), Reactor Electrical Assistant in USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76), Executive Officer in USS GREEN BAY (LPD 20), Commanding Officer in USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47), and Reactor Officer aboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). CAPT Robinson has been assigned as the Prospective Executive Officer of Pre-Commissioning Unit LYNDON B. JOHNSON (DDG 1002).

Ashore, CAPT Robinson has served as the Deputy Officer-in-Charge of the Surface Nuclear Propulsion Mobile Training Team on the Commander, Naval Air Forces staff. His most recent assignment was as the PERS-452 Branch Head, Allocations and Statistics Branch, at Navy Personnel Command.

CAPT Robinson’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
