USS Pearl Harbor (LSD-52)

CDR. Kevin T. Dean, USN Commanding Officer

Commander Dean is a native of Nashville, TN and raised in Decatur, IL. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in Economics, and was commissioned through the University’s NROTC program.

During his previous afloat tours he served as Repair Division Officer and Ship’s Maintenance and Material Officer onboard USS BOXER (LHD 4), US Liaison Officer for the British Amphibious Forces Staff onboard HMS Ocean (L 12) during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Combat Systems Officer onboard USS HALYBURTON (FFG 40), N6 for Commander, Destroyer Squadron Seven, N7 for Commander, Task Force Iraqi Freedom, and Executive Officer of USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52).

Ashore, Commander Dean served as Current Operations Officer and a Training Liaison Officer at Afloat Training Group Pacific, Combat Systems Officer for Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific, earned his Master’s Degree in Military Studies from Marine Corps University Command and Staff College, and served as the Finance Manager for OPNAV N2/N6 Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Division. Most recently Commander Dean served as the Executive Assistant at STRIKING FORCES NATO to the Commander, US SIXTH FLEET.

Commander Dean’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit and personal decorations.
