At 1610 executed ships right 90degrees to course 352 degrees T. At 1612 executed column left 110 degrees to course 237 degrees T. At 1655 executed ships left 110 degrees to course 127 degrees T. At 1705 executed ships right 90 degrees to course 217 degrees T. At 1710 executed ships right to course 240 degrees T. Sighted anti-aircraft bursts and plane on horizon bearing 090 degrees T. Ship went to General Quarters and increased speed to Flank. At 1720 received radio dispatch from USS STEMBLE reporting enemy air attack on Task Group 53.17. At 1725 Commander Task Group 53.17 reported three enemy torpedo planes coming in on port bow of that group. At 1730 began forming into cruising disposition. At 1731 two enemy planes sighted bearing 180 degrees T position angle 05 degrees. At 1733 executed ships right to base course 262 degrees T. At 1736 executed steam at 6 knots. At 1740 tractor group three ordered to take regular stations in cruising formation. At 1742 Commander Task Group 53.17 reported enemy torpedo plane attack successfully repelled. At 1755 set condition III Victor.

At 1753 enemy plane dropped torpedo about 2000 yds. distant and swung to stern of Task Group. At 1754 opened fire on two (2) enemy torpedo planes bearing 340 degrees Rel. At 1300 USS LCI 468 scuttled by shelling from USS STEMBLE. At 1330 Bogie contact by USS STEMBLE at 22 miles bearing 040 degrees T. Ship went to General Quarters. At 1334 lost contact with bogie. At 1350 set condition III Victor.
