Cyclone Class Coastal Patrol Ship:

  • Laid down 23 September 1994 at Bollinger Machine Shop and Shipyard, Lockport, LA
  • Launched 3 March 1995
  • Commissioned USS Shamal (PC 13), 27 January 1996
  • Decommissioned and transferred to the Coast Guard 29 September 2004 at San Diego, CA
  • Commissioned USCGC Shamal (WPC 13), 6 December 2004 at Pascagoula, MS
  • Returned to U.S. Navy custody 30 September 2011
  • Decommissioned 16 February 2021 at Naval Station Mayport, FL
  • Scheduled to be dismantled beginning 25 February 2021.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 328.5 t. (lt), 331 t. (fl)
  • Length 170'
  • Beam 25'
  • Draft less than 8'
  • Speed 35 kts.
  • Complement 28 and eight Special Warfare Det./USCG Det.
  • Armament: Two Mk 38-25mm mounts, two .50 cal. machine guns, six Stinger missiles, two Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher and one Mk 52 Mod 0 chaff launcher
  • Propulsion: Four 3,350shp Paxman diesel engines, four shafts.
