PT-518 served the Navies of the United States and the Soviet Union.

80' Elco Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 5 November 1943 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
  • Launched 28 January 1944
  • Completed 29 February 1944, placed in service at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, NY and asigned to Motor Torpedo Squadron THIRTY FIVE (PTRon 35) under the command of LCDR Richard Davis, Jr., USN
  • PTRon 35 had action in the English Channel area from June to November 1944, when orders were received to prepared the boats for delivery to the Soviet Union
  • "Requisition Joe" was placed out of service 7 April 1945, transferred to the Soviet Union at Glasgow, Scotland and reclassified TK-438
  • Placed in reserve 3 September 1953 and mothballed ashore
  • Struck from the Naval Register 25 June 1956
  • Scuttled 28/30 June 1956.
