Pasco served the Navies of the United States, the Soviet Union, Japan, and South Korea

Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally designated a Patrol Gunboat, PG-114
  • Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-6, 15 April 1943
  • Laid down 7 July 1943 under a Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 1424) at Kaiser Cargo Co., Richmond, CA
  • Launched 17 August 1943
  • Completed and commissioned U.S.S Pasco (PF-6),15 April 1944
  • Decommissioned 16 August 1945, transferred to the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease Program, reclassified EK-15 and assigned to the Pacific Fleet
  • Returned to U.S. custody 16 October 1949
  • Loaned to Japan under the Mutual Defense Assistance Program in 1953 and renamed Kashi (PF 283)
  • Struck from the Naval Register 1 December 1961
  • Transferred permanently to Japan in 1964
  • Reclassified as an Auxiliary Stock Craft, YAC-12
  • Decommissioned 30 June 1967
  • Returned to U.S. custody 18 March 1968
  • Transferred to South Korea in 1969 and used for parts
  • Eventually converted to a floating pier.

  • Length 303' 11"
  • Beam 37' 6"
  • Draft 13' 8"
  • Speed 20.3 kts.
  • Complement 190
  • Armament: Three 3"/50 dual purpose gun mounts, two twin 40mm gun mounts, nine 20mm gun mounts, two depth charge tracks, eight depth charge projectors and one depth charge projector (hedgehog)
  • Propulsion: Two - three drum expansion boilers, two 5,500ihp J. Hendy Iron Works vertical triple expansion engines, two shafts.
