Muskegon served the Navies of the United States and France.

Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally authorized as Patrol Gunboat, PG-132
  • Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-24, 15 April 1943
  • Laid down 11 May 1943 under a Maritime Commission contract, at Walter Butler Shipbuilding Co., Superior, Wisconsin
  • Launched 25 July 1943
  • Commissioned USS Muskegon (PF-24), 19 February 1944
  • Decommissioned 15 March 1946, transferred on loan to the Coast Guard and recommissioned USCG Muskegon (WPF-24)
  • Decommissioned by the Coast Guard and returned to U. S. Navy custody, 27 August 1946
  • Sold to France 26 March 1947 and renamed Mermoz (F-14)
  • Struck from the Naval Register 23 April 1947
  • Scrapped by France in the late 1950s.

  • Propulsion: Two 3-drum express boilers, two 5,500ihp J. Hendy Iron Works vertical triple expansion steam engines, two shafts.
