Eugene served the Navies of the United States and Cuba.

Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally authorized as Patrol Gunboat, PG-148
  • Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-40, 15 April 1943
  • Laid down 12 June 1943 under a Maritime Commission contract, at Consolidated Steel Corp., Ltd., Wilmington, CA.
  • Launched 6 July 1943
  • Commissioned USS Eugene (PF-40), 15 January 1944
  • Decommissioned 12 June 1946 at Charleston, SC
  • Struck from the Navy Register 19 July 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in June 1947 for further transferred to Cuba and renamed Jose Marti (F 301)
  • Scrapped in 1976.
