USED Towboat Aldebaran


Sternwheel Towboat:
  • Laid down in 1924 as the towboat Aldebaran for William G. Peters of Wabasha, MN.
  • Launched in 1924
  • Acquired by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1925
  • Commissioned in 1927 and placed in service as USED Towboat Aldebaran
  • The US Army Corps of Engineers used Aldebaran as a survey boat on the lower Mississippi River
  • Retired from US Army service in 1934
  • Sold at public auction in December 1934 to CAPT. Rush Burnside, homeported at Memphis, renamed Rush Krodell
  • Final Disposition, burned one mile below Natchez. MS in December 1937
