At sea with USS John C. Stennis Battle Group, Dec. 14, 2001 — The guided-missile cruiser USS Port Royal (CG 73) steams into position alongside USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) to begin underway replenishment (UNREP) operations. Cruisers, destroyers and frigates of the battle group often receive supplies and fuel from the carrier. It is this ability to resupply while at sea that provides the U.S. Navy with the sustainability for any operation around the world in support of national interests. The Navy can be there and stay there. Stennis and its battle group are supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Photo by PH2 J. Alston Farrally II
