  • 29 April 1964: Keel laid at the Lockheed Shipbuilding and Construction Co., Seattle, Wash.
  • 19 December 1964: Launched and christened, sponsored by Mrs. Lynda Mae David
  • 19 October 1968: Commissioned at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Comdr. Roy S. Reynolds in command, assigned CruDesPac at Long Beach, Cal.
  • 20 August 1973: Homeport assignment changed to San Diego, Cal.
  • 30 June 1975: Reclassified Frigate (FF 1050)
  • 28 September 1988: Decommissioned after 19 years and 11⅔ months of service
  • 18 September 1989: Leased to Brazil, renamed CT Pará (D-27)
  • 24 January 2001: Sold to Brazil

    Albert David
    240k Albert Leroy David (18 July 1902 - 17 September 1945), son of Emmett F. and Martha David, was born in Maryville MO and enlisted in the Navy in 1919. He served till 1939 when he transferred to the Fleet Reserve, but was recalled to active duty in late 1939. He was appointed Machinist in 1942, Ensign later that year and progressed to Lieutenant by July 1943.

    In 1944 Lt. David was serving as Assistant Engineering and Electrical Officer aboard USS Pillsbury (DE 133) in Task Group 28.3 when they captured the German submarine U-505 off Cape Blanco, West Africa. Lt. David was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery in this historic seizure.

    USS Albert David (DE 1050) (1968-1988) was the first ship named in his honor.

    249k August 1977: the Pacific Ocean - USS Albert David (FF 1050) sprints ahead on the oiler while USS Bronstein (FF 1037) returns for another approach on USS Hassayampa (AO 145). Between 22 and 29 August 1977 Albert David was attached to DesRon 23 as the Squadron was returning to its' home port of San Diego from Pearl Harbor. Units in company were USS Bronstein (FF 1037), USS Badger (FF 1071), USS Schofield (FFG 3), USS John Paul Jones (DDG 32), and USS Hassayampa (AO 145). During the crossing the ships carried out many exercises including mock refueling operations and various battle problems.
