Thach 228k 13 October 2003: San Francisco Bay, Cal. - Sailors from the guided missile frigate USS Thach (FFG 43) move drywall for Habitat For Humanity International during San Francisco Fleet Week. Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit ecumenical Christian housing organization that helps build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter. The celebration is held at the Fishermans Wharf featuring 2,500 Sailors, Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Navy ships; USS Cleveland (LPD 7), USS Hopper (DDG 70), USS Thach (FFG 43), USS Shiloh (CG 67), USS Mobile Bay (CG 53).

Thach 126k 23 March 2005: the Persian Gulf - Seaman Gabriel Spahn, left, and Fire Control Technician 3rd Class Gabriel Salinas, both assigned to the guided missile frigate USS Thach (FFG 43), approach the Royal Bahrain Navy ship Muharraq(FSGH 51) in a 24-foot Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) while conducting operations in the Persian Gulf in support of Exercise Arabian Gauntlet 2005. Arabian Gauntlet is a multi-lateral surface, air and mine countermeasure exercise designed to practice maritime security operations with our coalition partners and allies in the region.

Thach 165k 24 March 2005: the Persian Gulf - Lee Helmsman, Seaman Christopher Herrera and Helmsman, Seaman Donte Tidwell, both assigned to the guided missile frigate Thach, control the ships approach to the fast combat support ship USS Camden (AOE 2) and the amphibious transport dock ship USS Duluth (LPD 6). The three ships will be conducting simultaneous under-way replenishment operations. Thach and Duluth are currently participating in exercise Arabian Gauntlet 2005. Arabian Gauntlet is a multi-lateral surface, air and mine countermeasure exercise designed to practice maritime security operations with our coalition partners and allies in the region.

Thach 249k 14 July 2008: Shimonoseki, Japan - Vice Mayor Yamamura welcomes Cmdr. Dave Haas, commanding officer of the guided-missile frigate Thach, and his crew, to the city of Shimonoseki at the start of a routine port visit. This is the ship's first port of call to Japan during its current deployment. Thach is operating with the Ronald Reagan Strike Group in the 7th fleet areas of responsibility to promote cooperation and stability.

Thach 177k 08 September 2008: the North Arabian Sea - After a routine exchange with local fishermen, Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Duron Aldrege watches the mariners depart while aboard a rigid hull inflatable boat assigned to USS Thach (FFG 43). Thach is conducting routine interaction patrols in cooperation with Combined Task Force 152 in the Persian Gulf. Interaction patrols are an element of maritime security operations to help generate support and awareness amongst commercial vessels so that commercial shipping and fishing can occur safely in the region.

Thach 75k 06 June 2009: the Pacific Ocean - Lt.(jg) Colin Morrison performs "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes at the conclusion of a burial at sea ceremony for Capt. Dale Simmons on the forecastle of the guided-missile frigate USS Thach. Simmons was a former wingman of the ship's namesake Adm. Jimmy Thach, one of the many heroes at the Battle of Midway. The sailors on board Thach also paid homage to all their shipmates who fought and died at Midway with a wreath laying ceremony held prior to the burial at sea. Thach is currently on a routine deployment to the Western Pacific.

Thach 222k 06 June 2009: the Pacific Ocean - Executive Officer, Cmdr. Bruce Stanley and Command Master Chief (SW/AW) Mamudu Cole, carry the Battle of Midway wreath to cast it overboard during a remembrance ceremony aboard the Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate Thach. The ceremony was held to honor the courageous shipmates who fought in the battle of June 1943. Thach is underway on a routine deployment to the Western Pacific.

Thach is returning from a six-month deployment to Central and South America for Southern Seas 2011. The crew participated in three major exercises, made 18 port visits in seven countries and transited the Panama Canal and Straits of Magellan.
