Inouye (D-Hawaii) visits with sailors aboard the frigate USS Gary during the Senator's goodwill trip to forward deployed naval forces stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Senator Inouye emphasized the purpose of his trip was to meet and thank forward deployed sailors serving the United States abroad. Sen. Inouye also met with sailors aboard the 7th Fleet Command Ship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) and Commander, Fleet Activities, Yokosuka, Japan.

The Blackhawk helicopter and crew are attached to the Bravo Company, 1st of the 52nd Regiment stationed in Seoul, Korea.

Sanjeer Khosla observe as the crew of the guided missile frigate USS Gary prepare for a replenishment at sea (RAS) with the Indian Navy replenishment and repair ship INS Aditya (A 59). Gary, along with the guided missile cruiser USS Cowpens (CG 63) and the attack submarine USS Alexandria (SSN 757), are off the coast of India to take part in exercise Malabar 04 with the Indian Navy. Malabar is designed to increase interoperability between the two navies while enhancing the cooperative security relationship between India and the United States. The at-sea exercise includes maritime interdiction, surface events, sub-surface, air events and personnel exchanges.

Gary is underway for a regularly scheduled underway period. Gary, currently on deployment in the western Pacific, is scheduled for a port visit in Cambodia, the first by a U. S. Navy ship in 30 years. The frigate is assigned to Destroyer Squadron One Five and operates out of Yokosuka, Japan, as part of the Navys Forward Deployed Naval Forces.
