144k 07 May 2004: Everett, Wash. - Gunner's Mate 1st Class Jeremy Pederson gives local Girl Scout Troop 2171 a tour of the guided missile frigate Ford. The Girl Scouts came aboard to present the crew with 300 folded pocket flags to remind them of home while on their upcoming deployment. Each flag came in a small plastic pouch along with a short thank you note from the local Girl Scout troops.

175k 26 June 2004: The Pacific Ocean - Electrician's Mate 1st Class Jerald Eckman, from Marysville, Wash., stands the Engineering Officer of the Watch in the Central Control Station aboard Ford. Ford is assigned to the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) Carrier Strike Group (CSG), which is participating in Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse 2004 is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's first deployment under its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP).
