  • Decommissioned, 25 September 1998, at Naval Weapons Station, Charleston, S.C.
  • Placed in service by the Military Sealift Command (MSC), 1 October 1998 as USNS Santa Barbara (T-AE-28)
  • USNS Santa Barbara (T-AE-28) was one of six Sealift Commands Ammunition Ships, in the Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force
  • While assigned to MSC USNS Santa Barbara was in Ready Operational Status 45 until downgraded to planned disposal, 3 August 2005
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 3 August 2005
