The steel-hulled Net Tender USS Sandalwood (AN-32)

As can be seen in this photograph, the horns afforded an easy means of carrying heavy parts of a mooring, consisting of anchors and buoys. A crew member is standing on the starboard steel anchor, two concrete anchors are outboard of each of the horns, and an End Mark II buoy is in the water off the port bow.
