AOG-15 Conasauga


Halawa Class Gasoline Tanker: Built in 1932 as New York Socony at Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp., Sparrows Point, MD.; Acquired by the Navy, 23 March 1943; Commissioned USS Conasauga (AOG-15), 19 April 1943; Decommissioned, 25 December 1944; Transferred to France under the terms of the Lend-Least Act; Returned to US custody, 17 October 1945, at Palermo, Sicily; Struck from the Naval Register, (date unknown); Final Disposition, equipment stripped and hulk sold, 19 December 1945, fate unknown.

Specifications: Length 254'; Beam 45'; Draft 13'; Speed 8kts; Armament, one single 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two to four 20mm guns.
