Alatna Class Gasoline Tanker
  • Laid down, 15 March 1956, as a Maritime Administration type (T1-M2-4A) arctic tanker hull, under Maritime Administration contract (MA-44) at Bethlehem Steel, Baltimore, MD.
  • Launched, 6 September 1956, at Staten Island, N.Y. by Bethlehem Steel Corp.
  • Acquired by the Navy, 17 July 1957, and placed in service with the Military Sea Transportation Service in July 1957 as USNS Alatna (T-AOG-81)
  • Placed out of service, 8 August 1972
  • Custody transferred to the Maritime Administration (MARAD) for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
  • Redesignated Oiler Transporter (T-AOT-81), date unknown
  • Downgraded from RRF status to disposal, pending sale, 30 September 2006
  • Final Disposition, disposed of by MARAD sale, 16 December 2006, to Teroaka Company of Japan
