  • Laid down, 21 September 1943, as SS Francis P. Duffey a Maritime Commission type (EC2-S-C1) hull, under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 1805) at Bethlehem Fairfield Shipyard, Inc., Baltimore, MD.
  • Assigned to the Navy and renamed Cebu
  • Launched, 18 October 1943
  • Acquired by the Navy from the Maritime Commission and converted to an Internal Combustion Engine Repair Ship at Maryland Drydock Co, Baltimore, MD.
  • Commissioned USS Cebu (ARG-6), 15 April 1944, CAPT. George W. Stott in command
  • During World War II USS Cebu was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated in the following campaign:

    Campaign and Dates
    Western Caroline Islands operation
    Assaults on the Philippine Islands, 9 to 24 September 1944

  • USS Cebu (ARG-6) was assigned to Joint Task Force 1, Task Unit 1.8.1 Service Group - Repair and Service Unit for Operation Crossroads the atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll in July 1946
  • Decommissioned, 30 September 1947, at Stockton, CA.
  • Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, Stockton Group
  • Permanent transfer to the Maritime Administration, 9 January 1962, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 1 September 1962
  • USS Cebu earned one battle star for World War II service
  • Final Disposition, 18 October 1973, Zidell Explorations Inc. for scrapping, physically delivered, 14 November 1973
