AFDL-1 Class Small Auxiliary Floating Dry Dock:
  • Laid down at Chicago Bridge and Iron Co., Eureka, CA., early 1943
  • Commissioned USS AFDL-7, in 1944
  • Towed to Pearl Harbor in early March 1944 while enroute to Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands
  • In spring 1945 AFDL-7 was towed from Kwajalein Atoll to Entewetok Atoll, Marshall Islands
  • Decommissioned, 1 January 1947
  • Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, at Pearl Harbor
  • Transferred on loan to the US Army, June 1970
  • Returned to US Naval custody, October 1971
  • Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, Guam
  • Placed in service, 1 January 1973
  • Named Ability (AFDL-7), 7 June 1979
  • Placed out of service at Guam in early 1981
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 15 February 1981
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping by DRMS, 1 July 1982
