  • Laid down, circa 1943, as US Army type 228 steel-hulled Large Tug LT-646 by Jakobson Shipyard, Oyster Bay, N.Y.
  • Delivered to the US Army Transportation Service, circa September 1943-March 1944
  • Commissioned US Army LT-646
  • Named Pvt. Gabriel Chavez US Army LT-646, date unknown
  • Acquired by the Navy with the creation of the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) in 1950
  • Placed in service as USNS T-ATA-243
  • Placed out of service and struck from the Naval Register in 1962
  • Final Disposition, scrapped in 1972 by I.D.Logan, Bellevue, WA.
    Specifications:
    Propulsion diesel-electric engines, single screw, 1,000hp.
