ATR-1 Class Rescue Tug:
  • Laid down in 1943 at Delaware Bay Shipbuilding Co., Leesburg, N.J.
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Commissioned USS ATR-13, date unknown, LTjg. G. N. Hammond in command
  • USS ATR-13 was first assigned to the Europe Africa Middle East Theater and later the the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated in the following campaign:

    Invasion of Normandy, 6 to 25 June 1944

  • Following World War II USS ATR-13 was assigned to Occupation Service in the Far East from 3 September to 8 December 1945
  • Decommissioned, date unknown
  • Struck from the Naval Register in 1946
  • USS ATR-13 earned one battle star for World War II service I
  • Sold in 1947 to the Pacific Salvage Company, Vancouver B.C., named Salvage King
  • Sold in 1959 to Capital Iron and Metals, Victoria, B.C.
  • While moored in her berth at Victoria B.C., 19 October 1953, a fire broke out in the forecastle of the tug. Crews fought the fire for five hours, slowly filling her with water until she finally sank.
  • She was raised, 4 April 1959 and while being towed by Island Comet to the breakers yard, hit the Johnson Street Bridge, at Victoria nearly severing one main girder.
  • Final Disposition, broken up in 1959 at Capital Iron & Metals Ltd. Victoria B.C. In October 1959 the hulk was towed to the Comox Logging Co. breakwater at Royston, B.C. and scuttled.
