Mohongo-class Double-ender Sidewheel Gunboat:
  • Laid down, date unknown, at Continental Iron Works, Greenpoint N.Y.
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Delivered, 5 January 1865
  • Placed in Commission, in January 1865
  • USS Muscoota was at Norfolk, VA. in May 1865 when ordered to Key West as part of an effort to prevent Confederate President Jefferson Davis escaping abroad
  • Muscoota remained in the Gulf of Mexico area at least until August 1866, when she was sent north in response to a serious outbreak of yellow fever among her crew
  • Decommissioned, date unknown
  • Sold at Public Auction in 1869
  • Extensively rebuilt for merchant employment, redocumented and renamed SS Tennessee.
  • Final Disposition, destroyed by fire near Little River, N.C., 29 June 1870
