CAPT. Javier Gonzalezocasio, USN
Commanding Officer

CAPT Javier Gonzalezocasio is a native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He is a 1995 graduate from Temple University at Philadelphia, PA where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in 1997.

A career surface warfare officer, he has served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer on USS Momsen (DDG 92); Operations Officer on COMDESRON Two Four and USS Taylor (FFG 50); Fire Control Officer on USS Hue City (CG 66); and Damage Control Officer on USS DE Wert (FFG 45).

Ashore, tours included Division and Branch Chief at U.S. Central Command Operations Directorate Plans Division, Afloat Training Group as Training Liaison Officer and the Joint Interagency Task Force South as the lead Maritime Planner. CAPT Gonzalez is a graduate of Jacksonville University and the Naval War College, holding masters in both Business Administration and National Security & Strategic Studies. He is also a graduate of the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School and a former federal executive fellow at John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal as well as various unit, service and campaign awards
