USS Oak Hill (LSD-51)



CDR. John William Meise, USN
Commanding Officer

Commander Meise, a native of Baltimore Maryland, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College. In his most recent assignment, he served as Executive Officer, USS OAK HILL (LSD 51).

His sea service assignments include command of USS TYPHOON (PC 5), PATROL COASTAL CREW DELTA, and USS HURRICANE (PC 3). Earlier in his career he completed division officer and department head assignments in USS ASHLAND (LSD 48), PATROL COASTAL CREW GOLF deployed in USS SIROCCO (PC 6), and USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44).

Ashore, Commander Meise served as an Admissions Officer for the United States Naval Academy, as Amphibious ship scheduler in the U.S. Fleet Forces Global Force Management division, Deputy Executive Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command and Commander Command Detailer, Navy Personnel Command (PERS41).
