  • Laid down as AMS-178 by J. & K. Smit Scheepswerf, The Netherlands under the off-shore procurement plan of the Military Defense Assistance Pact and based on the design of the British "Ton" Class Coastal Minesweeper
  • Reclassified by U. S. Navy as a Coastal Minesweeper, MSC-178, 7 February 1955
  • Launched 5 April 1955
  • Completed 20 March 1956
  • Commissioned Ommen (M 813), 19 April 1956
  • Underwent Fleet Rehabilitation and Modernization (FRAM program in 1976/1977
  • Struck from the Naval Register 23 July 1993
  • Sold for scrap 5 September 1997 to the firm of Achterhuis and Son of Hattum, The Netherlands for 9,488 Dutch Gulden.
