  • Reclassified by U. S. Navy as a Coastal Minesweeper, MSC-187, 7 February 1955
  • Laid down 5 April 1955 by J. and K. Smit scheepswerf, Kinderdijk, Holland under the off-shore procurement plan of the Military Defense Assistance Pact and based on the design of the British "Ton" Class Coastal Minesweeper
  • Launched 13 March 1956
  • Completed 18 August 1956
  • Placed in service as Gemert (M 841), 7 September 1956
  • Started undergoing Fleet Rehabilitation and Modernization (FRAM) program 31 May 1974
  • Completed FRAM 11 April 1976
  • Struck from the Naval Register 15 September 1993
  • Sold for scrap toR. Zorn of Haarlem, Holland for 8,030 Dutch Guilden (3,643 Euros/$4,834).
