Jackdaw served the Navies of the United States and Brazil.

YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper: Laid down 28 December 1942 by Weaver Shipyards, Orange, TX; Launched 29 January 1944; Completed 28 April 1944; Commissioned USS YMS-373, 29 April 1944; Named Jackdaw and reclassified as a Motor Minesweeper, AMS-21, 18 February 1947; Reclassified as a Coastal Minesweeper (Old), MSC(O)-21, 7 February 1955; Struck from the Naval Register 1 January 1960; Transferred to Brazil 18 January 1960 as Jurva (M 13). Fate unknown.

Specifications: Displacement 245 t.; Length 136'; Beam 22' 9"; Draft 6' 3"; Speed 14.5 kts; Complement 50; Armament one single 3"/50; Propulsion two 1,800 bhp General Motors diesel engines, two shafts.

Jackdaw

A common crow-like bird, easy to tame, that is noted for pilfering small articles.

YMS-373, commissioned 29 April 1944 was reclassified AMS-21 and given the name Jackdaw 17 February 1947. Struck from the Navy List 1 January 1960 and transferred to Brazil as Jurva (M13) in January 1963.
