SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser/PGM-1 Class Motor Gunboat:

  • Laid down 6 February 1943 as PC-1071 by the Mathis Yacht Building Co., Camden, New Jersey
  • Reclassified as SC-1071 in April 1943
  • Launched 20 May 1943
  • Commissioned USS SC-1071, 8 June 1943
  • Reclassified as a Motor Gunboat, PGM-6, 10 December 1943
  • During April - June 1944 she participated in the consolidation of the northern Solomon Islands area. A year later, in April 1945 she took part in landings on Mindanao in the southern Philippines
  • Decommissioned 17 January 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 25 February 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission 7 May 1947
  • Fate unknown.
