PGM-56


PGM-56 served the Navies of Indonesia and the Philippines

PGM-39 Class Motor Gunboat:

  • Laid down in 1961 as PGM-56 by the Marinette Marine Corp., Marinette, WI
  • Delivered 10 November 1962, transferred to Indonesia under the Military Assistance Program and named KRI Bentang Waitatiri (P 571)
  • It is questionable if PGM-56 was ever delivered to Indonesia
  • Transferred to the Philippines in 1965 and renamed BRP Yanga (G 59)
  • Reclassified PG-59
  • Struck from the Naval Register in 1982
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 110 t.
  • Length 95'
  • Beam 19'
  • Draft 6' 9"
  • Speed 20 kts.
  • Armament: Two 20mm mounts and two .50 cal. machine guns
  • Propulsion: Eight 255bhp General Motors 6-71 diesel engines, two shafts.
