PGM-59


PGM-59 was built for South Vietnam.

PGM-59 Class Motor Gunboat:

  • Laid down in 1963 as PGM-59 by J. M. Martinac Shipbuilding Corp., Tacoma, WA
  • Delivered 20 March 1963, transferred to South Vietnam and named Kim Qui (HQ 605) (Golden Turtle)
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 122 t.
  • Length 100' 4"
  • Beam 21' 1"
  • Draft 8' 6"
  • Speed 17 kts.
  • Armament: One 40mm mount, two 20mm mounts and one 81mm mortar
  • Propulsion: Two 975bhp MB820 Mercedes Benz diesel engines/eight 250bhp General Motors 6-71 diesel engines, two shafts.
