PGM-80


PGM-80 was built for South Vietnam.

PGM-71 Class Motor Gunboat:

  • Laid down as PGM-80 by Marinette Marine, Manitowoc, WI
  • Launched 21 March 1966
  • Delivered 17 May 1966
  • Transferred to South Vietnam 2 June 1966 and named RVN Tay Sa (HQ 615)
  • Captured 30 April 1975 by North Vietnamese forces
  • Broken up in 1980.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 130 t.
  • Length 101'
  • Beam 22'
  • Draft 6' 8"
  • Speed 18 kts.
  • Armament: One 40mm mount, two twin 20mm mounts and two .50 cal. machine guns
  • Propulsion: Two 550hp VT-12M Cummins diesel engines, two shafts.
