SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser/PGM-1 Class Motor Gunboat:

  • Laid down 16 July 1942 as PC-757 by the Robinson Marine Construction Co., Benton Harbor, MI
  • Reclassified SC-757 in April 1943
  • Launched 17 June 1943
  • Commissioned SC-757, 12 August 1943
  • Converted to a Motor Gunboat and reclassified PGM-2 in December 1943
  • Decommissioned in January 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 5 June 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission at Subic Bay, Philippines
  • Sold in May 1947
  • Fate unknown.

  • Length 110' 10"
  • Beam 17'
  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "K Gun," and two depth charge tracks
    After PGM conversion: One 3"/23 mount and one 40mm mount or two 40mm mounts and four twin .50 cal. machine guns
  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
