Ford 70k 06 February 2004: Everett, Wash. - Lt.(jg) Elliott Taylor peers through the alidade on the bridge aboard the guided missile frigate Ford. The alidade aids ship handlers in aligning the vessels course correctly. Taylor was recently selected as Naval Station Everetts 2003 Ship Handler of the Year.

Ford 144k 07 May 2004: Everett, Wash. - Gunner's Mate 1st Class Jeremy Pederson gives local Girl Scout Troop 2171 a tour of the guided missile frigate Ford. The Girl Scouts came aboard to present the crew with 300 folded pocket flags to remind them of home while on their upcoming deployment. Each flag came in a small plastic pouch along with a short thank you note from the local Girl Scout troops.

Ford 175k 26 June 2004: The Pacific Ocean - Electrician's Mate 1st Class Jerald Eckman, from Marysville, Wash., stands the Engineering Officer of the Watch in the Central Control Station aboard Ford. Ford is assigned to the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) Carrier Strike Group (CSG), which is participating in Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse 2004 is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's first deployment under its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP).

Ford participated in Rim of the Pacific maritime exercises 2004 and is currently on a four-month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).

Patnoudes is one of several crew members of the guided-missile frigate Ford to visit local schools. Ford is one of several U.S. Navy ships participating in CARAT 2008. CARAT is an annual series of bilateral maritime training exercises between the United States and six Southeast Asian nations designed to build relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
