Delivered to the Maritime Administration, 11 February 1983 for operation by the Waterman Steamship Corp.

Acquired by the Navy under a long-term charter in 1985

Converted by National Steel and Shipbuilding, San Diego, CA.

Placed in service in 1985 under the direction of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) as SS PFC Eugene A. Obregon (AK-3006), operated by Waterman Steamship Corp.

Purchased by the Military Sealift Command in January 2010, renamed USNS PFC Eugene A. Obregon (T-AK-3006)

Eugene A. Obregon is one of the Military Sealift Command's seventeen Container & Roll-on/Roll-off Ships and is part of the 36 ships in the Prepositioning Program.
