Northern Light Class Breakbulk Cargo Ship:
  • Laid down, date unknown, as SS Mormaclake, a Maritime Administration type (C3-S-33a) hull, under Maritime Administration contract (MA hull 75), at Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock Co., Chester, PA.
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Title transfer, delivered to Moore-McCormack Lines, 11 April 1961
  • Title transfer, delivered to States Marine Lines, 3 December 1976
  • Returned to the Maritime Administration (MARAD) , 14 March 1977, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, James River Group, Lee Hall, VA.
  • Renamed SS Lake, 27 May 1977
  • Assigned to the US Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC)'s Ready Reserve Force (RRF-30)
  • SS Lake (AK-5016) could be activated in 30 days
  • Downgraded to the MARAD National Defense Reserve Fleet, 1 October 2001
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping by MARAD. Scrapping Contact, $454,690, awarded 31 July 2007 to All Star Metals, Brownsville TX.
