USS Comstock (LSD-45)

CDR. Kevin D. Culver USN

A native of Omaha, Commander Kevin D. Culver graduated from Old Dominion University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and received his commission from the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps as part of the Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP). He earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and is also a graduate of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School at Joint Forces Staff College.

Commander Culver's sea assignments include Auxiliaries/Electrical Officer in USS LABOON (DDG 58), Damage Control Assistant in USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66), Engineering Officer in USS CARR (FFG 52), Operations Officer in RIVERINE SQUADRON ONE, Damage Control Assistant in USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75) and Executive Officer in USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44).

Ashore, Commander Culver was assigned to the Joint Staff, J7 Joint & Coalition Warfighting as an Observer/Trainer as part of the Deployable Training Team. A few years later, he served as an action officer in US Fleet Forces Surface Capabilities and Requirements branch (N86).

Commander Culver has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy Commendation Medals, and four Navy Achievement Medals as well as various other service awards
