CDR. Brett Christian Hershman USN

Commander Hershman is a native of Norfolk, Nebr. He enlisted in the Navy in 1987 and was commissioned a Surface Warfare Officer in 1995.

At sea, Commander Hershman served as Navigator in USS Anzio (CG 68), Assistant Operations Officer for Commander, Amphibious Squadron 4/Nassau Amphibious Ready Group, Operations Officer in USS Comstock (LSD 45), Assistant Operations Officer in USS Tarawa (LHA 1), and Executive Officer in PCU Arlington (LPD 24). He actively served in Operations Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Allied Force in Kosovo, and Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. His enlisted sea tours include USS Wasp (LHD 1) and USS Kearsarge (LHD 3).

Ashore, Commander Hershman served as Director of Fleet Management, Commander U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. Sixth Fleet, as Executive Assistant and Maritime Planner to the Director, Standing Joint Force Headquarters, U.S. Northern Command, and aboard NROTC, University of San Diego. His enlisted shore tours include NAS Sigonella, Sicily, NSA Manamah, Bahrain, and NSGA Chesapeake, Va.

Commander Hershman holds a B.A. in Communication Studies and Italian Language from the University of San Diego, an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and an M.S. in Global Business Leadership from the University of San Diego School of Business Administration. He is also a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
