CDR. Kevin A. Lane

Commander Lane was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from The American University in Washington, DC in 1993 and worked for two years as a Legal Assistant. Desiring to serve his country and see the world, he joined the Navy and was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in 1995.

His first tour of duty was onboard USS SAMUEL B ROBERTS (FFG 58), where he served as Combat Information Center Officer. In August, 1998 Commander Lane reported to USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41), where he served as Auxiliary Machinery Officer and later as Operations Officer.

In January, 2003 Commander Lane reported to USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44), and served as the First Lieutenant. In September, 2004 he reported to USS NASSAU (LHA 4), where he served as the Training and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Officer.

Commander Lane’s tours ashore include Force Personnel Officer on the staff of Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet; Joint Observer/Trainer on the U.S. Joint Forces Command Joint Warfighting Center Deployable Training Team; N5 Action Officer and Battle Watch Captain on the staff of Commander, U.S. Second Fleet. He received a Master’s Degree from Old Dominion University in 2002. While assigned to U.S. Joint Forces Command, he completed his Joint Professional Military Education Phase II at the Joint Forces Staff College.

Commander Lane’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and various unit and service awards. He is married to LCDR Ruth Lane, a Naval Oceanographer.
