  • Laid down 11 October 1917 by the Staten Island Shipbuilding Co., Staten Island, NY
  • Launched 29 March 1918
  • Commissioned USS Cardinal, Minesweeper No. 6, 23 August 1918
  • Served as a temporary lightship, NY-2, 29.5 miles off New York, south-east of Ambrose Lightship, until 3 August 1919
  • Designated AM-6, 17 July 1920
  • Grounded on a reef 6 June 1923 off the coast of Chirikof Island, Dutch Harbor, AK and was abandoned.
