Their company, Navy Yard Associates, offers prints of most destroyers, submarines and aircraft carriers in various configurations during the ship's lifetime. ALL the Oliver Hazard Perry class guided missile frigates are available as built, in short or long hull configuration. The prints can be customized with ship's patches, your photograph, your bio, etc. When you purchase artwork from them, please indicate that you heard about their work from Navsource. Halyburton 14k William David Halyburton, Jr. (2 August 1924 - 10 May 1945) was a native of Canton NC, and graduated New Hanover High School, Wilmington NC. His plans to enter the ministry changed when he left Davidson College, Davidson NC, and joined the US Naval Reserve on 4 August 1943. After basic training and Hospital Corps School, both at Bainbridge MD, he was advanced to PhM3. He then attended a number of other schools and was promoted to PhM2 on 1 August 1944. After combat training in California, he joined the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, and on 14 December 1944 embarked aboard USS General M. M. Patrick, which was leaving for the invasion of Okinawa. On 10 May 1945, as his company attacked a significant objective, he moved in the open to help the wounded. In order to protect a wounded patient, PhM2 Halyburton shielded the Marine with his own body despite the danger of incoming rounds. He continued to minister aid until he himself was mortally wounded. For heroically sacrificing his life to save the lives of other Marines, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. He was laid to rest in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu HI. In addition to USS Halyburton (FFG 40), the Halyburton Naval Hospital at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point NC was also named in his honor. Navsource
