Surrender Details: Surrendered at sea to US Navy on 9 May 1945. Arrived at Portsmouth, NH on 17 May.
Time in US Navy: In poor condition and not required as a war prize. Declared surplus to Allied requirements and scheduled for sinking no later that 15 February 1946. Used as a source of spares for other US Navy U-Boats
Final Disposal: Sunk on 5 February 1946 by Sirago (SS-485) off Cape Cod, Mass.
