  • Placed in service with the Military Sealift Command (MSC) as USNS Maury (T-AGS-39)
  • Placed out of service in September 1994
  • Transferred to the Maritime Administration (MARAD) for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 1 October 1994
  • Transferred by MARAD to the California Maritime Academy, 4 May 1996, renamed TS Golden Bear III
