  • Laid down, 15 August 1955, as Shoshone a Maritime Administration type (T3-S-12a) tanker hull under Maritime Administration contract (MA hull 40) at Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co., Chester, PA.
  • Launched, 17 January 1957
  • Placed in service by the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) as USNS Shoshone (T-AO-151)
  • Operated for MSTS by Marine Transport Lines under a long-term consecutive-voyage charter
  • Reclassified Transport Oiler T-AOT-151, date unknown
  • Placed out of service in 1984
  • Laid up in Reserve (RRF-10), 2 October 1984, at the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Benecia, CA.
  • Withdrawn from Reserve, 28 November 1990, for a special Ready Reserve Force project
  • Placed in service, date unknown
  • USNS Shoshone (T-AOT-151) participated in operation Desert Storm, 25 February 1991 and 19 March 1991
  • Placed out of service, date unknown
  • Struck from the Naval Register, date unknown
  • Title transferred to the Maritime Administration, 7 October 1994, downgraded to NDRF and for laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
  • Reacquired, 11 May 2002, for further transfer to the Office of Naval Research, fate unknown
