Escape Class Rescue and Salvage Ship : Laid down, 30 April 1942 at Colberg Boat Works, Stockton, CA; Launched, 27 April 1943; Commissioned USS Protector (ARS-14), 28 December 1943; Decommissioned, 15 May 1946; Struck from the Naval Register, 8 October 1946; Transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal; Final disposition, sold by the Maritime Commission, 16 December 1946 to Glen R Butt, Cambridge, MA, resold, 1952 to Pakistani interests, fate unknown.

Specifications: Displacement 1,650t.; Length 213' 6"; Beam 39': Draft 14' 8"; Speed 15kts; Complement 65; Armament one single 3"/50 gun mount; Propulsion, diesel-electric, twin screws, 2,780hp.
