BARS-5 HMS American Salvor Class Rescue and Salvage Ship:
  • Laid down, 30 May 1942, as BARS-10, under a Maritime Commission contract at Bellingham Marine Railway & Boatbuilding Co., Bellingham, WA.
  • Launched, 23 January 1943
  • Assigned to the Royal Navy under terms of the Lend Lease Act, named Southampton Salvor
  • Completed, 18 December 1943, and transferred to the Royal Navy, commissioned HMS Southampton Salvor
  • Returned to US Navy custody, 10 December 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register, date unknown
  • Sold for merchant service in November 1946
  • Renamed Alkimos in 1948
  • Final Disposition, scrapped in Greece in 1953
