    Boxer 118k USS Boxer (LHD-4) returns to San Diego. 29 April 2004, after completing a three and a half month deployment in support of troop rotation in Iraq. Boxer off-loaded personnel and equipment for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (1st MEF) and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. This was Boxer's second deployment in less than a year after returning from a regularly scheduled deployment in August 2003.

    Boxer 70k USS Boxer (LHD-4) at Shoalwater Bay, Australia, launches an Australian Army S70A-9 Black Hawk helicopter and a US Navy Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) in support of the exercise Talisman Sabre 2005, 19 June 2005. Talisman Sabre is an exercise jointly sponsored by the U.S. Pacific Command and Australian Defence Force Joint Operations Command, and designed to train the US Seventh Fleet commander's staff and Australian Joint Operations staff as a designated Combined Task Force (CTF) headquarters. The exercise focuses on crisis action planning and execution of contingency response operations. US Pacific Command units and Australian forces will conduct land, sea and air training throughout the training area. More than 11,000 US and 6,000 Australian personnel will participate.

Boxer completed a four-and-a-half month surge deployment providing support to 7th Fleet exercises including Exercise Talisman Sabre, a joint exercise with Australia and Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT), where Boxer worked closely with Malaysian Army and Naval forces.
