  • Launched, date unknown
  • Acquired by the Navy, 25 October 1940, from Card Towing Line, Inc., New York, N.Y.
  • Converted to a net tender at New York Navy Yard
  • Placed in service, 17 December 1940, as the Yard Net Tender Tamaha (YN-44)
  • Allocated to the 14th Naval District, serving primarily at Midway Island
  • During WWII Tamaha was assigned to Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated in the following campaigns:

    Pearl Harbor - Midway

    3 to 6 June 1942

  • Redesignated Yard Net Tender,Tug YNt-12, 8 April 1942
  • Returned to San Diego, CA., 26 March 1946, in the dock of Auxiliary Repair Dry Dock USS ARD-8
  • Placed out of service at San Diego, CA., 12 April 1946
  • Determined to be surplus to US Navy needs and struck from the Naval Register, 1 May 1946
  • Transferred to the Maritime Commission at San Diego, for disposal
  • Tamaha earned two battle stars for World War II service
